Mindfulness

I am qualified as a mindfulness and mediation teacher, I have trained to teach the 8-week Mindfulness Now Course, and the 8-Week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Course, as well as guided mindfulness and meditation practices.

Mindfulness means paying more attention to the present moment—to your own thoughts and feelings, and to the world around you. It’s about noticing what’s happening now, rather than getting lost in the past or future.

The Mindfulness Now 8-Week Programme is a powerful blend of:

  • Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), pioneered by Dr Jon Kabat-Zinn
  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), developed at Oxford University

This psycho-educational approach is designed to support people from all walks of life, it offers practical tools to manage stress, anxiety, and low mood while deepening wellbeing, self-awareness, compassion and building emotional resilience. Mindfulness Now is trauma-sensitive, backed by neuroscience, and endorsed by the NHS and British Psychological Society. Whether you’re dealing with pressure, low mood, chronic pain, or just a bit of burnout, you’ll find tools that work for real people to use in real life.

The Wandering Mind On average, we spend nearly half our waking hours thinking about something other than what’s happening right now. This mental drift—what we call autopilot—can become harmful when it pulls us into painful memories, anxious “what ifs,” or loops of self-criticism.

Mindfulness to the Rescue Mindfulness offers a way back to the moment. While definitions vary, at its core mindfulness means paying attention—deliberately and without judgment—to whatever we’re doing, feeling or experiencing. It’s not something we need to invent; it’s a natural capacity we all have. And with practices like meditation, we can nurture it and bring more balance, clarity, and peace to our everyday lives.

Why It’s Different

The programme provides a safe, inclusive space to explore how mindfulness can positively shape everyday life.

Participants engage in weekly 2 hour sessions, supported by day daily home practice, guided meditations, and optional one-to-one support. The programme includes mix of mindfulness, gentle movement, and group reflection, all led by Darren a qualified, MTA-registered teacher.

You’ll build emotional resilience, improve sleep and focus, and gain insight into your patterns orf thought and behaviour. All you need is a willingness to take part, stay curious, and bring a kind, open attitude to the learning process. You can find out more here.

Feeling overwhelmed? Struggling with stress? The 8-Week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Course allows you to take control —a proven program designed to help you cultivate inner calm, resilience, and balance. Through guided meditation, gentle movement, and practical techniques, you’ll learn how to break free from the cycle of stress and approach life with greater clarity and ease. Whether you’re facing everyday pressures or more significant challenges, this course empowers you to respond to stress mindfully rather than reactively.

MBSR is an internationally researched, evidenced based programme dating back to the 1970’s that gives all participants a useful introduction to mindfulness practice and self-compassion. The course will be offered in person and online and will guide participants through a number of mindfulness meditation techniques, exploring through gentle inquiry any thoughts or emotions that may surface from the practice. Participants will develop, through regular mindfulness meditation practice a tool kit to help begin to manage stress, anxiety, mental and physical pain. You can find out more here.

At the moment I am only teaching the Mindfulness Now course – please get in touch if interested in the MBSR course.
