About Mindful Being

I’m Darren — a mindfulness teacher, Qigong practitioner, poet, and wellbeing advocate. My work is rooted in a simple belief:

There’s nothing alternative about wellness. It’s human. It’s necessary. It’s for all of us.

I teach mindfulness and Qigong in a way that’s grounded, accessible, and free from fluff. No mysticism. No jargon. Just real tools for real life.

I’m a qualified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness Now teacher, accredited by the Mindfulness Teachers Association, and I’m also studying for a Diploma in Wellness Coaching, deepening my understanding of behaviour change and holistic wellbeing. I am also studying Acceptance Commitment Therapy and in my spare time explore Zen Buddhism, trauma‑informed practice, and the psychology of stress and resilience.

My own wellbeing is shaped by daily meditation, Qigong, journalling, vegan living, and an alcohol‑free lifestyle. I write poetry as a way of making sense of the world — and I bring that same creativity into my teaching.

At work, I’m a Wellbeing Champion, Grief First Aider and I deliver MBSR courses and practical wellbeing sessions for colleagues, with consistently powerful feedback. Supporting others is part of my own wellbeing plan — a reciprocal loop where teaching strengthens my practice, and my practice strengthens my teaching.

I’m especially passionate about men’s wellbeing. Through Wellness for Blokes, I create spaces where men can talk openly, breathe deeply, and learn tools for emotional resilience without awkwardness or stigma. I have also joined forces with Waves and Vibrational Energy to deliver wellness sessions for blokes as well as mixed gender sessions.

Mindful Being is my way of sharing what I’ve learned: calm, clarity, compassion, and the courage to live with intention.
